Loose Cannons

Help Wanted: Spin Doctors. Immediate openings.
Last week the Louisiana director of the ACLU made some interesting statements while speaking to a local news crew, summarized thusly in one headline:

ACLU director compares mindset of Tangipahoa school prayer supporters with terrorists

Here's a link to a later article in which the director apologized for his "hyperbole." [link]

I think this balances nicely with Pat Robertson's recent suggestion to have a Venezuelan leader assassinated. Both made outlandish statements, both have since apologized. Score this round as a draw, maybe?

I think I should be a spin doctor. It's just such a cute job title. Mind, I'm not saying I could actually help these people. I'd probably only make it worse. But it would be such fun trying.

Or maybe it only seems like fun right now, because it's Anything But What I'm Actually Supposed To Be Doing. Sound familiar?

Lou - apparently not. :-D

Scroobious - make it worse? Hardly seems possible; definitely worth a try. And I think you should know your comment triggered the following Sponsored Link in gmail:
Johnny Carson Revealed
Heeeers (sic) Johnny! Reveals his secrets
etc.

Maybe your use of the word "Mind" (i.e. Carnac the Magnificent)?

Given Variable #1: Yes Pat Robertson may have jumped the gun in suggesting to assassinate Hugo Chavez.

Given Variable #2: The ACLU did compare prayer to terrorism.

Given Variable #3: Pat Robertson made just this one comment, yet this is just the latest in a string of radical anti-christian propoganda put forth by the ACLU.

Theorem: The ACLU is the most useless of all special interest groups.

Just noticed you labeled my Mom dated Spike as the "RLI Support Group Center". Awesome! As always, RaJ, you are a bright bloggity light in the midst of real-life darkness/whatever one calls this morass of work that keeps me from blogging.

Jedith - the ACLU and Mr. Robertson seem to have a knack for polarization.

Cate - thanks. Just trying to keep up, that's all. :)

Nothing like a man of God being pro-assination.

I believe that the ACLU is the single most Anti-American group in business today in America, they should be investigated by our federal government for support of terrorism and shut down under RICO statutes.

Ann - a man of God ought to pray, then trust God's sovereignty, not tout assassination (or kidnapping; as if!) of someone in authority.

Ben - greetings! Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment. As for the ACLU, can't say that I've ever seen much common ground between their agenda and my beliefs. The phrase "diametrically opposed" comes to mind.
